The visual identity for Newark Grounds' map draws from patterns in the corridor's 72 artworks and reimagines topographic graphs within an urban landscape. Sky and cloud imagery, windows, and asphalt textures reference Ras Baraka's poem Ballad of the Morning Street, which Design Consortium incorporated early in development.

These elements shape the map's narrative arc: entering through sky on the cover, moving through the corridor's pathways and artworks, and ending with asphalt on the back, symbolizing grounding and arrival. Custom illustrations and icons reference iconic Newark buildings and creative spaces, adding local specificity and cultural context.

The visual system extends across all touchpoints (social media templates, wayfinding, and the website), creating a cohesive identity through shared patterns, layout language, and graphic logic.

Typographic Poster/Animation: The typographic poster serves as a takeaway print within the map. Its typography explores the same Treat Pl patterns and textures through my own style, with a more vibrant palette that allows it to stand alone once detached, meant to be torn off and kept.
